Infrared Wine Thermometer with Clip Instant Read Thermometer

3.0 out of 5 stars Houston, we have a problem… Let me get the most important question out of the way – yes, it’s accurate and works fine, however… The devil is in the details. I wish I could give it higher rating, but here’s why not – the thermometer comes with batteries already installed. So far, so good. What’s NOT good is that a little cap for the compartment housing the batteries is secured by a tiny screw which is jammed and almost broke my screwdriver. What this means is that some day when batteries die, the whole gadget goes to trash. I was tempted to return it/exchange it, but decided to keep it. Thanks to a superb vendor support, I’ll be getting another thermometer with better design (no screw) at a wholesale price. Perhaps mine was a fluke and screw works just fine on other devices, but in my opinion, adding the screw to secure the battery housing was completely unnecessary and a big hassle as my example proves.If you want to be picky, the only other flaw is that the display is quite small and not backlit. You’ll need decent ambient light in order to be able to read the temperature. So, forget about taking the temperature of your wine in a romantic setting by the fireplace. Lights on!Other than that, great little gadget. Not just for wine, but mostly anything. Pool temperature, hot water in the bathroom, A/C vents, ice cream, you name it (who takes the temperature of ice cream anyway? Answer: Boys who like toys LOL). Works great. 5 people found this helpful
