Overview The Turnabot Startabot micro servo packs serious speed and usable torque into a tiny package. It clocks 0.04 s/60° @ 8.4 V with up to 3.8 kg·cm torque, runs across a wide 4.8–8.4 V range, and accepts standard 3-wire PWM control (pulse width ~1520 µs center). At just 23×12×27.5 mm and 20 g, it’s ideal for micro pan-tilt heads, compact grippers, small rovers, and animatronics. Classroom-friendly safety: after being stalled for several seconds the Startabot enters a protective “sleep” mode and wakes on the next valid control signal. It won’t stop all heat from aggressive stick inputs, but it runs cooler under novice use—great for labs and workshops. Compatibility note: control signal is standard hobby PWM (≈1000–2000 µs around ~1520 µs center). The spec lists a ~333 Hz update; many controllers default to ~50 Hz and still drive digital servos reliably, but verify on your setup. If needed, use a library/driver that allows higher update rates (e.g., PCA9685 or libraries with configurable servo refresh). Start with small motions at low load, confirm no binding, then expand endpoints.
