Kerfuffle Plastic Antweight Kit – Maker Edition

$35.9 $44.88
Kerfuffle 1lb Combat Robot Kit What it is / Who it’s for Want to build a robot kit? The Kerfuffle 1lb Combat Robot Kit is a “plastic antweight” you can build with basic tools and a desktop 3D printer. It’s ideal for first-time builders, workshop leaders, and educators who want real robot-fight excitement without the high cost and risk of heavier classes. The Maker Edition lets you — or your favorite Maker (even if that’s you!) — 3D print the chassis and mechanicals using the CAD files we provide or your own custom design. For a complete ready-to-assemble package, see the Complete Kerfuffle Kit.   How it works Kerfuffle prioritizes control and reliability over destructive energy. A low wedge gets under opponents, while a simple lifter flips or destabilizes them. Pair the radio, arm the bot, and drive: the setup rewards driver skill, makes practice safe, and even allows Kerfuffle-vs-Kerfuffle bouts without needing a full steel arena.   What’s included / What you’ll need You’ll 3D-print the chassis, wedge, lifter, and top plate, then add standard combat-robot components (drive motors, ESCs, LiPo battery, radio, wheels, power switch). This kit provides all required internal electronics, receiver, and hardware, but does NOT include the 3D-printed parts.   Why this kit Developed by BattleBots veteran Brandon Bennett Young and refined since 2019, Kerfuffle V2 is proven in competition and beginner-friendly. The design favors inexpensive spares, quick repairs, and smart driving habits you can scale to heavier classes later. It’s an excellent choice for building both driving and attack skills. Learn more about Brandon on his team Bone Dead Robotics page. Brandon has been designing and competing with robots since 2010.   Safety & best practices Follow LiPo charging and storage guidelines, enable failsafes through your radio/ESC settings, and test drive on a non-slip surface before sparring. Keep fingers clear of the lifter mechanism, and always power down using a physical switch between matches.   Learn more / Guides Step-by-step build guidance appears in Make: Magazine’s Build Your First Combat Bot. For electronics and spares, see the Maintenance tab on this page for ESCs, batteries, radios, and other parts.
